Youth Accounts


UTMA Accounts 

  • Savings account opened by a parent /custodian for minor (minor does not have access to account) Uniform Transfer to Minor Account.

  • This accounts holds funds that belong strictly to the minor, and will be turned over to the minor when he/she turns 18 (custodian must initiate this - TCFCU won’t do this automatically).

  • Only one custodian allowed.


Joint Account with Parent/Guardian 

  • This is a savings account which is opened by the minor with a joint owner (adult over 18) - typically the minor’s parent(s) or guardian(s).

  • Minor will have full access to funds in the account and can perform transactions that we allow.

  • No custodian like in an UTMA account.

  • Typically for minors ages 14-17.


TC Good Start Checking Account (age 14-25) 

  • Anyone age 14-25 can open (whether a student or not)

  • Ages 14-17 must have a qualifying adult owner too;

  • Get a debit card to make purchases and access funds via ATM

  • Sign-up for direct deposit and watch your money grow

  • $25.00 minimum opening deposit (instead of $50.00)
