Our History & Mission

Our Vision Statement

Our vision is to be our member’s first choice for financial success.

Our Mission Statement

Total Choice Federal Credit Union is a community based financial cooperative formed for the purpose of encouraging savings, offering loans and providing a wide range of financial service for the people that live, work, worship or attend school in the parishes of St. Charles, St. James and St. John the Baptist.

How We Started

  • A small group of Taft Carbide employees originally chartered our credit union in 1976. Their goal was to form a financial cooperative that would enable members to borrow at reasonable rates and receive outstanding financial services

  • Since 1976, we have grown to over $60,000,000.00 in assets and are proud to serve nearly 7,000 members

  • We are a community chartered federal credit union – anyone who lives, works, worships or attends school in the parishes of St. Charles, St. James or St. John the Baptist may join our credit union family

  • We are committed to our members’ financial success. Partnering with Total Choice FCU for your financial endeavors is a smart choice

Philosophy & Structure of Credit Unions

  • Credit unions are democratically owned and controlled institutions based on the principle of ‘people helping people’

  • Credit union boards of directors are elected by members with each member having an equal vote, regardless of how much he or she has on deposit

  • Only members may serve as directors, and directors serve without compensation. Credit unions have no outside stockholders, so after reserves are set aside, earnings are returned to members in the form of higher dividends on savings, lower loan rates and lower cost services
